clnkblank > 4.19.09 Some days my daughter just can't stand the thought of posing but today was a totally different story. She put on a supercute outfit and posed for an hour. So far this is her favorite one that I've processed. Others can be seen here:

clnkblank > 3/10/09 Scruffy

My dog, Scruffy, is in desperate need of a hair cut. Poor baby thought he was in trouble when I told him to sit for this picture. He looks sort of grumpy about it.....not that you can really tell because you can't see his eyes, haha!
clnkblank > 4/9/09 - 1st Photo Shoot

Sorry I've been gone for a while. Life gets in the way....hubby out of country for a month, 4 hours driving to school and back for kids each day, taxes, etc, etc, etc.

Here's a picture from my 1st photo shoot of someone other than my kids. I would really appreciate comments on composition, pose, cropping, etc. If any of you are portrait photographers, here is a link to the rest of them if you'd like to see them.

clnkblank > 03.24.09 Kinzi. This is my daughter. She's my test subject all the time. She's getting pretty tired of it since I haven't been happy with any portraits that I've taken. Tonight, I was taking some test shot to see if my camera was focusing right....well, it was, beginner errors on my part. I'm so glad I was was able to produce something the way I wanted it. I was going for the narrow DOF to just be sharp in her eyes and then blur out and yippee, I got it! I didn't do any post processing with this file in photoshop.

The black item on her head is a temporary tattoo. Yes, she did think that was a wonderful place for one and her school doesn't have a dress code that prohibits it, so we just let her. Her eyes are hazel. Sometimes they look green, sometimes the blue comes out. Right now I see a lot of blue and barely any green.
clnkblank > 03.23.09 Kinzi's Toys. Well, nothing I shot turned out very good this weekend. So I was playing around with ISO settings, aperature and so on to see if I could find where it shot well and where it lost quality. These little guys were my props. My daughter thought it was hysterical I was using her toys!
clnkblank > 03.20.09 "Metric America"

Today's photo isn't the most exciting but it does have it's own story. According to our local "mini" paper, we live by the only section of U.S. interstate road marked in metric. A 100 kilometer or 63 mile section of I-19 is marked like the photo you see here. The markers were placed here in 1980 as a part of a federal experiment with metric conversion. It was very unpoplular, caused a lot of complaints and confused drivers. Yet, we still have it 30 years later.

Now the state has proposed taking out those signs and replacing them with mile markers. Now, there is a lot of fuss going on about that based on the economy and should we spend 1.5 million to replace it with the state budget in crisis. Personally, I don't care. They are unique and I can convert so no big deal for me but the first time you drive on it you really can't tell how far things are unless you can remember your metric conversions quickly.

We moved here 4 years ago and didn't really know the story until just this week. I'd love to hear your opinion!

I had to pull over in the emergency area to snap this photo quickly, sorry about the less than exciting composition!
clnkblank > 03.19.09 & Self-Portrait Week 3. Thank you very much for all the comments on my photo yesterday. It's the first time one of mine posted high in the gallery. On to today's....self portraits are so hard to make. It seems like I took about 70 pictures just to get one I could tolerate posting. I used all natural light but ended up having to use a high ISO to do so which made it pretty grainy.
clnkblank > 03.18.09 I logged on earlier and left a bunch of comments but forgot to upload my picture. This is in a little shopping area downtown. The flowers look so fresh and beautiful!
clnkblank > 03.17.09 Just a field behind my house. I used NicholeVan's color pop action and a texture from her worn set. I like the way it turned out.
clnkblank > 03.16.09 I survived this spring break slumber party! This was taken with my iphone at the pool in the middle of the day...hence the reason for the less then perfect quality (except for the joyous faces on the girls). My daughter and 4 of her friends had a slumber party last night. This was taken in the 1st hour....the 23rd hour looked the same way. Man, little girls are so silly and they really know how to feed off each other! My son even asked if I was feeding them sugar constantly. They were actually very good but I'm exhausted from just being around them!

Yes, they were swimming yesterday. 80 degrees and the pool is heated!
clnkblank > 03.15.09 This is my first try with a light box. My contribution to the St. Paddy's day pictures.
clnkblank > 03.14.09 New growth. This cactus behind my home has start sprouting some new growth. I thought the red on it was beautiful, for a cactus!
clnkblank > 03.13.09 Keeping Watch. I saw this building ....again on the way to school. It has statues about every 15 ft on the roof. They look like they are keeping watch. Each one is different. I've tried to find some information about them but no luck yet.

ISO 200, f/6.3, 1/2000, fl=200mm
clnkblank > 03.12.09 Converted yesterday's photo to back and white. I kind of like it. I've haven't converted anything to B&W before in Photoshop. I didn't like Photoshop's automatic version so I had to tweek it until I liked it. Does it feel "spookier" than the color version?
clnkblank > 03.11.09 A little something different from me today. This is a fence around a house that I drive by everyday when I take my kids to school. I think the faces above the door are very interesting. I had a little bit of a hard time with the composition but I went with this. A little later I'm going to process it for black and white and see if it will give it a "spookier" feel.

ISO 125, f/6.3, 1/100, fl=125m, Nikon D80
